MISSION STATEMENT

The New Mexico Mediation Association was created to promote the concept of mediation as a method of resolving disputes, educate the general public regarding the benefits of mediation, and provide a network of information exchange for the mediation community in the State of New Mexico.

INTRODUCTION

The New Mexico Mediation Association is a non-profit member organization of mediators and others interested in mediation. NMMA members are a diverse group of people with a shared interest in the mediation process. NMMA was created to help members to promote the concept of mediation as a method of resolving disputes, educate the general public regarding the benefits of mediation, and provide a network of information exchange for the mediation community in the state of New Mexico.

NMMA describes mediation as a non-adversarial and voluntary dispute resolution process which takes place in a neutral and confidential setting. The Mediators provide specific communication and collaborative problem solving skills. The parties determine the outcome. Many types of disputes can be resolved through mediation in a prompt, private, constructive and cost effective manner.
